Ravi Kanth) — United States President Donald Trump on 26 November announced that he will not invite South Africa to the G20 Leaders’ summit in Miami, Florida, next year. He alleged that Washington “did not attend the G20 in South Africa” on account of “the horrific Human Rights abuses endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers”. In a post on his Truth Social media website, President Trump wrote that the South African government did not “acknowledge or address the horrific Human Right Abuses endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers.” Using language widely criticized as being “racist”, President Trump stated: “To put it more bluntly, they are killing white people, and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them.” Several historians of Africa have recounted how colonizers, from the Dutch to the English, had slaughtered local populations in large numbers. President Trump’s comments appear to twist the historical record of the brutalities committed by settler colonialists in South Africa. President Trump went on to denounce American publications like the “New York Times and the Fake News Media” for not issuing “a word against this genocide.” This stance contrasts with the US position on Gaza, where it did not acknowledge a report on 15 September by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory that found “reasonable grounds” to conclude that Israel is committing genocide. He wrote, “That’s why all the Liars and Pretenders of the Radical Left Media are going out of business!” “At the conclusion of the G20,” President Trump said, “South Africa refused to hand off the G20 Presidency to a Senior Representative from our US Embassy, who attended the Closing Ceremony.” He added, “Therefore, at my direction, South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year.” He also railed against South Africa, saying that it “has demonstrated to the World they are not a country worthy of Membership anywhere, and we are going to stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately.” +
